Leanne Tomlin BSc (Hons) HCPC MCSP AACP
I am a specialist Musculoskeletal (MSK) / Orthopaedic Chartered Physiotherapist with knowledge in Chronic Pain. I have over 15 years MSK-specific and 18 years general Physiotherapy experience. I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2010 from the University of Hertfordshire to become a Bachelor of Science graduate with honours in Physiotherapy. I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). I have a special interest in sports injuries, post surgery, tendon pain and spinal pain.

Career Progression
Immediately after qualification I volunteered at the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Letchworth whilst working part-time as a Physiotherapist at a care home treating clients with neurological impairments. This challenging role built my confidence, improved my time management skills and developed my neuro skills whilst working independently and in a team.

In October 2010 I began working in a busy NHS outpatients department treating Musculoskeletal conditions, Orthopaedics and chronic pain. I quickly progressed to a senior Physiotherapist working within the Community Musculoskeletal Service treating complex patients. As part of my NHS role I trained to become a Clinical Educator which involved overseeing students on their University placements on a regular basis. I also taught various patient exercise classes (including back care , knee post-operation rehabilitation, general rehabilitation, Pilates and Tai-chi) and lead various in-service training sessions for the Physiotherapy department (including Plantar Fasciitis, posterior knee pain and tendinopathy). I was also responsible for creating various patient information leaflets and service improvement projects for the Physiotherapy department.
In 2012 I set up a private Physiotherapy clinic at home to run alongside my NHS role allowing me to truly fulfil my role as a Physiotherapist treating a range of acute and chronic conditions. This is where my passion as a Physiotherapist really ignited. In February 2015 I left the NHS and started working as a senior Physiotherapist for Nuffield Health within a gym setting with an emphasis on sports-related injuries, occupational health and chronic pain. This role really escalated my knowledge and competence in strength & conditioning and treating the athletic population. As part of this role I worked in-house at Glaxo-SmithKline treating staff who presented with ergonomic related pain which included work station assessments.
During COVID I took a career break and embarked on the hardest role I had ever taken on - raising a family!
Following maternity leave and a completely new dynamic at home I have taken the plunge of being solely self-employed to fit around family life. I am now pleased to offer a brand-new mobile Physiotherapy clinic - LJTphysio!

Post-graduate Qualifications
In May 2012 I completed my master’s level Acupuncture course providing me with an additional tool to use in my practice for pain relief. I have since completed additional Acupuncture training in headaches, fascia techniques, tendinopathy and chronic pain.
I have also completed Pilates training via the firmly established Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI) which enabled me to teach 1:1 and class-based Pilates to a high standard.
Other post-graduate training includes strength & conditioning, psychology in sport, spinal manipulation, tendinopathy in sport, Temporomandibular and facial pain, shoulder workshops, cervical workshops, pregnancy related pain and many more!
Hobbies and Interests
During my early career as a Physiotherapist, I have volunteered for the MS Society and The Willow Foundation providing post event treatment and management. This has involved the London Marathon and The Willow 10km. I have also volunteered at the national under 20/23 Bedford Athletic championships and world trials
I am very active and I enjoy Zumba, Piyo and strength training at the gym in addition to walking regularly. Other hobbies of mine include baking, crochet, aromatherapy and crystal healing. Spending time with my family is also of the upmost importance to me.
